ABOUT ME: Name Now: Vanessa Dockery WHERE I LIVE NOW: Rye Cove, Virginia OTHER PLACES I'VE LIVED: Johnson City, TN and Duffield, VA CURRENT INTERESTS: WORK/CAREER: Bank Secrecy Act and Compliance Officer HOBBIES: My hobbies are scrapbooking and reading, but I really don't have time for either of them, so, mostly my hobbies are whatever my kids are into at the moment. FAMILY: I have three children. Kayla is 15. Daniel is 12 1/2. Joshua is 8 1/2. Kayla will be a sophomore at Rye Cove High school this fall. Daniel is going into 7th grade at Rye Cove Intermediate. Joshua is going into 3rd grade at Duffield Primary. Kayla is on the colorguard and winterguard squads at RCHS. The boys both play soccer and basketball. Daniel LOVES to fish and Joshua just loves to play, period. Kayla has a boyfriend - for 18 months and will get her learner's permit in October. PETS: We have one dog, Skye, and two fish. We also have four cats, Willamina, Lucky, Midnight, and Raja. Joshua has a hermit crab and we have three mice, yes, mice - yuck. So, we have a nice little zoo going at my house, but the cats and the dog live outside. MEMORIES: Oh, my goodness - too many to list. I remember how I met Dottie. I was in the locker room after gym and I was talking about how cute Lawrence was and someone said 'You better be quiet, Dottie is his sister.' So - there began a life long friendship. I remember our outings on annual staff and eating Hardee's 1/4 pounders about three times a week - If only I could do that now and not worry about my weight!! I remember the "Ring-Man" and how we all drooled over him and our secret stash of girlie magazines in annual staff. Painting the annual staff room walls. The football team scavenger hunt with Lawrence Tankersley, Leslie Haynes, and Chad Hatmaker - we probably could have been arrested for a few of the items we took! Sleepovers with Melissa Saylor and swimming in her pool. I remember when Kellie told us a secret and imagining how her life would change. I remember football games and spending too much time at Long John Silvers waiting on Jim. I remember riding with Jim in his old truck he redid and I remember Bryan punching out one of the windows in the front door one day because he was mad at Jim for something he had done or said to me. I remember all three prom trips. First, with Leslie, Chad, and Lawrence, then with Bryan Young, my friend Sherry, Jim, Celesea, Pete Napier. I remember being heart broken when Jim got Prince and danced with Leslie. Then, senior prom, I don't know who we went with, I just know we ended up at my house and had a radio up on the roof-top patio and Keith Harless and Leslie were there and whoever else and we stayed out there forever. I remember fun with Mrs. Hatmaker. I remember the wisdom of Mrs. Rasnic. I remember going to a play with Mrs. Phipps in her cool car. I remember Mrs. Livesay's hair. Mrs. Mullin's scowl - I liked her, but she just never seemed happy. Mrs. Turner's fingers and how she always wanted to call me Elizabeth. Mrs. Walton's smile and her perpetual bun. Other Mrs. Walton's laugh. Drooling after Coach Stewart. Driving Coach Williams around the track and across the mountain - he must have had nerves of steel. Mr.Perdue and Mrs. Laster. Mrs. Hines. 4-H with Mrs. Britton and the trip Hank and I took to Fontana, NC. STAR team - Forensics - HUGE dreams!! Oh, and I remember throwing away my retainer once and having to go through the lunchroom trash and find it - NASTY! I guess most of my time was spent with Jim and I didn't spend much time cruising the streets, but it was all leading to where I am now and who I am now, so I guess I wouldn't want to change very much of it. Anyway, I have tons of good memories and I won't recount the bad because I'd rather forget those anyway. |

It seems to me that people have vast potential. Most people can do extraordinary things if they have the confidence or take the risks. Yet most people don't. They sit in front of the telly and treat life as if it goes on forever. Philip Adams |
