ABOUT ME: Name Now: Jan Dawn Gilley After finally deciding what I wanted to do in life, I am very settled in my work as a teacher/professor in higher education. I love my work. I am working on my doctorate degree at VA TECH and hope to complete in the near future. My children are leaving one by one and I have had a tough time with that, but I have been finding new areas within myself to grow and discover ways to stay active. I love GOD and love my church family, I would be lost without Jesus in my life. I am very far from perfect, but aren't we all? I have changed a lot from high school but I don't feel that it is in a bad way, just changed. Would love to reconnect, visit me on myspace... WHERE I LIVE NOW: Bristol, Virginia OTHER PLACES I'VE LIVED: Alabama, Iowa and TN CURRENT INTERESTS: WORK/CAREER: Assistant Professor / Teacher Education HOBBIES: I still love adventure and have a 'wild hair', and it still gets me into trouble..LOL..I enjoy the outdoors, any activity that includes exercise and my boys (if that is possible). I like very much "ME TIME...aka "alone time." I love hiking, running, sking, reading, gardening, and really like my girly times with my friends, love, love, love the beach, just the water, sand and a good book and of course my flip flops. FAMILY: I am married to a geek (go figure), honestly he is a wonderful person. My oldest son Chris lives on his own and still loves his music, my middle son Brandon is in college at Carson-Newman studying Journalism/Broadcasting, setting his eyes on ESPN, and my youngest is Bryce who is 10 and is very active! All, are the greatest joys of my life. PETS: We have 2 dogs, Buddy and Rudy, both named by Bryce. I've had one cat for several years, she is an all white blue-eyed princess named Estey, short for Queen Esther. I absolutely adore horses but get my fix by my visits to the VIC Barn. I still hope to have my own one day, once I get out of the subdivision living!! MEMORIES: I was a bit shy entering high school, but felt that I grew more in my junior and senior years. The crazy thing is that I work with some of my old high school teachers today. I think a lot about Cindy, Sandy, Victor, Melinda and so many more..I wished that I hadn't 'steady' dated, and had more time with my friends, doing REAL things, what was it about Pizza Hut anyway? I wished that I had talked more to people that were quiet and spoke less to those that only hurt me in the end...Oh Well, it was high school, right?? |
